I love making something pretty and useful with my own hands.
When I was young, my mom taught me how to sew my own clothes. But later, I just found it too difficult to find cloth that I liked, and ready-made clothing was so much cheaper.
I redisovered my love for making things with knitting. It's hard to describe to a non-knitter why I enjoy knitting so much. But I just love the textures and colors of all the yarns. Sometimes I knit something for myself, but usually I knit thigs for family and friends; hats, scarves, mittens and even a sweater or two.
Do you have a hand craft that you love to spend your time on? I'd love to share pictures and stories with you!

Isn't cooking magical?! You start out with a handful of nothing special and finish with someting delicious. I remember the first time I made brownies from scratch instead of using a box of mix from the store. Yum! So easy and so much better!
I visited Cairo once, about 9 years ago. My favorite food there was koushari. What do you like to make?
I know nothing about knitting communities. I think they are not large, though. There are plenty of potential members but not many who would think to join.
As for fibers, they used to be easy to find and reasonably priced but since knitting became fashionable it is much cheaper to buy scarves gloves and hats for three people than yarn for one sweater.

Is there a big knitting community in Greece? Is it easy to find fiber you like to work with?
I like knitting but I prefer small projects of something I can wear. I don't enjoy decorative knitting very much. Unless it is for a miniature house, where I can spend days on a tiny piece. I like miniatures very much. I am trying to learn how to make some.
