What would you recommend me?

Lately, I've been trying to improve my English, but it's really difficult for me. I know that the best way, to learn quickly, is practising everyday with someone. It is impossible for me due to I live in a town where there aren't too many people from other countries.
I've been trying to practise with people in this web, but it's difficult too as the time zones are different compared to other countries. So I don't know how to improve my language skills. What would you recommend me?

Hi Teresa! Good question...I have wondered the same thing.

I recommend studying little by little. When you can't talk with someone, the next best thing is to repeat every word you learn out loud.

Here are a few free methods:

1. Duolingo https://www.duolingo.com/

2. Ba Ba Dum https://babadum.com/

3. HelloTalk (iPod app)

4. YouTube (I recommend TedTalks!) https://www.youtube.com/user/TEDtalksDirector

5. Spotify for music https://www.spotify.com/

Remember to have fun when you're learning!! Let me know if you have any questions or whatever!

I highly recommend listening to English songs. You can search up the lyrics and learn new words too. The great thing about songs is that you can sing along to the songs which help with speaking the language.

If you want an online method of learning new words and improving your english, I recommend this website: http://www.fluentu.com/ ;

It provides real world videos that you can watch to improve your learning. You can also take quizzes and make flashcards, which is very useful. I use the site too for learning Japanese and it has helped me so much so I highly recommend it.

Besides what Ross already told you, I'd suggest you to watch content in English. If you like to watch movies, or TV series and their original language is English try to watch them in English with subtitles.

You don't even have to do it online as lots of movies and series on Spanish TV can be switched to its original language (which is particularly useful if it's something you've already watched, since you know what it is about and you won't lose track of what's going on).

As for what you mentioned regarding time zones, I can understand it's a problem with native speakers from USA, Australia or New Zealand, but there are lots of British or Irish people around on italki which are just one hour behind Spanish time, so that won't be much of a problem in terms of time zone :)

And if you don't mind speaking with non-native speakers, there are lots of Europeans who speak a wonderful English despite it not being their first-language!
