The culture of Belarus

Hi all,

Sorry for posting here but the Belarusian discussion area seems very quiet and my understanding about Russian and Belarusian culture is that they are very similar.   I hope don't offend anyone on here and please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I would appreciate if someone could introduce me to the Belarusian culture (lifestyle, music, costumes, gastronomy, language, religion, etc.).

Please, feel free to add me.

Thanks!

Russian and Belarussian culture differ just in some nuances, they have very deep common roots.

Please ask specific questions to clarify what you want to know :)

My questions are focused in rural Belarus.

- What people eat?

- What foods you can't find in Belarus? (Do people in the countryside have access to bananas, grapes, strawberries, etc.)

- What music young people listen to?

- Are American/British musical bands such One direction famous in Belarus?

- What celebrations Belarus have? (Like St Patrick in Irelands or La Bastille in France)

- How is family life like? (For example, we have all eat together a roast dinner every Sunday)

- Are people religious? (How many times a week they go do mass? Do they pray daily?)

- What sports are popular (among young people in rural areas)?

- What hobbies are popular (among young people in rural areas)? (Music, ballet, etc.?)

Thanks!
