Probably the HD crashed. Software, well, I am using Unix so I do not think I have a virus. In fact, is says something like media not readable before the OS starts. Pretty sure it is hardware. I will try to fingle with the cables a bit. Maybe that helps.
Yeah, you always have to backup your most important data always.
