I just used this link: http://www.csus.edu/indiv/s/sheaa/projects/genki/hiragana-timer.html

Memorize 10 kana at a time. When looking for a specific kana, say its pronunciation out loud and write it (do the strokes in the air or on the tabletop as you would writing the alphabet with your finger) until you find it. Doing so you will be practicing your reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills all at the same time.

At first it will take you like 5-2 minutes to get 10 hiragana. If you keep practicing, you should be able to get 10 at a time in 30-40s. When you know should be able to get everything in like 2-3 minutes.

Good luck!

The Yoshida Institute has pages teaching kana and kanji. yosida.com

Otherwise, Japanese for Busy People is a simple way to start.

Hey! I learned hiragana by using an app called "  Boku ". It gives you a picture or a drawing so you can recognize the letters right away. If you have an android phone you download in on the app store. it took me about 5 days to learn hiragana & about 3 for katakana :)
