From zero to hero(hopefully)

I haven't had any good progress lately on my Japanese learning activities since I'm still struggling on the very basics of Japanese, hiragana and katakana (I don't even wanna step into kanji). Yeah basically, I'm still at the very lowest in Japanese.

So are there any good materials and resources out there that I can use to study my hiragana and katakana? thanks :)

My suggestion is: learn through your hand!

I learned Hiragana about twenty years ago: I got a table that showed t all Hiragana with hints where to start and in which order/direction to put the strokes.

Then I took paper and started to write and repeat.  I also spent boring times in my university lectures to write Hiragana on the edge of my notes.

In the end, I wrote the whole table in one go, again and again. It took me one month to memorize Hiragana.

Katakana is a different story... ;)

yes there are many apps for learning Japanese on your phone and tablet

if you want start on the writing here's a site with writing sheets for both hiragana and katakana

Hiragana: http://japanese-lesson.com/resources/pdf/hiragana_writing_practice_sheets.pdf

Katakana: http://japanese-lesson.com/resources/pdf/katakana_writing_practice_sheets.pdf

You could also try a site called Nihongo Master though after you get through the introductory lessons you will have to pay for a subscription to go further during the introductory part you will learn both hiragana and katakana

http://nihongomaster.com

when you are ready for kanji try wanikani. You will learn Radicals, Kanji, and vocab on each level.

http://wanikani.com

You could also try http://japanesepod101.com they have audio and video lessons you can learn the language about culture etc there. Yes I've been at this for a while over the past year I have been using different things. I found about this site from someone on Youtube actually. Good luck with your learning. Feel free to contact me via message here if you need anything else.
