While I can't help you directly from my personal experience, there is a facebook page "Hungry for Hungarian" where you can get more help.  The moderator owns a small company that helps folks like yourself in the preparation process.  You can find lots of free resources on it without a lot of self-promotion.  I am doing the verification of citizenship since both my parents were Hungarian Citizens at the time of my birth.  This does not have the same requirements as yourself.  In fact, no knowledge is required at all, but I want to become fluent eventually anyway so I have been doing language exchange through Skype and took some lessons through the moderator's company.
