A particular type of brazilian music.....

Hi all, i listen to Brazilian music all the time to try and improve my listening skills but i have a problem. I cant seem to find some good Brazilian music to listen to whilst working out in the gym.

I need something motivating. When i was learning Spanish i liked listening to Reggaeton whilst working out, what is the equivalent of Reggaeton from Brazil? so far i have...

Claudia Leitte

 Natiruts

Alexandre Pires

Samba and Pigode

and other Portuguese language music like Kizomba

i think you would all agree this isnt like Reggaeton.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hey Steve, nice to know you are interested in brazilian music. There are a lot of different types of music here but the ones that you will probably be more interested in are

-"Funk" which is a very popular type of music in Rio de Janeiro and that would probably be the closest to reggaeton that you will find. Some of my recomendations include

Naldo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzS61Jennkw Amor de chocolate (although i don't really like funk this is quite nice lol)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_2357245795&feature=iv&src_vid=wzS61Jennkw&v=eyAtzuHc_GQ Caipifruta (this is really close to some types of raggaeton and it makes me wanna dance, idk)

MC Pikeno e Menor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQMXnpOi0WU Toda toda (this song is pretty cool, it even has a dialog in the beginning which is pretty funny because the acting is terrible)

-"Pagode" which is really good but is not so close to raggaeton

Thiaguinho: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbUJimd4v5U Caraca, muleke (Neymar is also in the video so...)

Exaltassamba: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_vzefyV-4U Tá vendo aquela lua

Turma do pagode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_SXl-ETXRI Lancinho (is funny because they always start their songs yelling their own name like "TURMA DO PAGODE!!")

There are also a few more songs that made a lot of success like

Michel Teló: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogD8UDiMe1g&list=PLzqxfHgVY_9XQrI9syWGGfP58JLtVijjV Humilde residencia

João Bosco e Vinícius: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UFEXw-6jCg Chora me liga

Latino: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQx3BVpjleg Kuduru (as you can see there are great visual effects in this music video... or not)

I hope you like these songs, if you want any more recomendations feel free to ask

There is no something exactly similar how Reggaeton here in Brazil. But we have:

FUNK - (Rio de janeiro/São Paulo): http://top10mais.org/top-10-funk-mais-tocados-do-momento/

BREGA - (Recife):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSrhtaGLf70

FORRÓ - (Nordeste do Brasil):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKjUaMK6i0U

Olá! There is a playlist youtube with the best songs for learning Brazilian Portuguese, in a variety of styles and with lyrics. Some of the songs include Jorge Ben Jor (samba), Tom Jobim (bossa nova), Leandro e Leonardo (sertanejo) and others, so it's a good variety of styles.

On this article you can find an activities sheet (the main words in the songs) and this playlist with more details:

Até mais!
