I would recoment the new BBC Scherloc TV Series. I liked it. I though it was a prety good modern adaptation of the classic Sherloc Holmes. Three seasons are out and there is a fourth one planed for mid late 2015.

I would recommend Hocus Pocus. It isn't recent, but is still nice.
