Personal or more directing/producing related, doesn't matter.
So far, mine is 'Spirited Away'; it has the amazing storyline and the somewhat happy ending, which I like. And last but not least, because I can relate to the main character.
I'll say Princess Mononoke. I love the plot and the worldview of the movie.
The Japanese island of Yakushima which is a world heritage inspired Princess Mononoke's setting.
It's magical.
My last comment should have said [ 2. 耳をすませば ] I found it quite amusing when I checked this feed and saw what I had done. 身 = body / 耳 = ear
1. もののけ姫
もののけひめ = Princess Mononoke.
2. 耳をすませば
みみをすませば = Whisper of the heart.
3. 千と千尋の神隠し
せんとちひろのかみかくし = Spirited Away.
Princess Mononoke hands down! The story, the animation, the score, it´s all amazing, I´d go so far as to call it a masterpiece! Although it was the first Ghibli film I saw all the way through so maybe that´s why it´s my fave, often our favourites are also our "first experiences" :) A very close second would be My Neighbour Totoro!
Howl's Moving Castle.
HYD, That's true. This is 4th retirement statement.
