Welcome to italki!
This website is a bit like a social network for learning languages. You can write entries and post them (like on Facebook) and a native speaker will correct them. You can also help people who are learning Italian.
You can search for friends who are speak English and are learning Italian and can organise to speak with these people. This is usually done with 50% English conversation, 50% Italian - a language exchange.
If you want someone to teach you, you should look for a teacher. That means you have to pay, however.
You don't have to add a photo, but it helps if you want people to look at your profile.
