Hello friend,

"Estoy" and "Soy" are the two different things. The first one is the verb "Estar" conjugated in present tense, first person. (Singular)

Yo estoy

The second one is the verb "Ser" conjugated in present tense, first person. (Singular)

Yo soy

How to use them ?

Verb "Estar" wants to communicate a temporal idea about the subject.

Yo estoy cansado. (<em>por que son las 11 de la noche)</em>

Verb "Ser" wants to introduce an idea about the "essence" of the subject.

Yo soy alto. (<em>Mido 1.85m</em>)

These are the main uses of these two verbs but not restricted to.

If not serve something , but when you come to mention the place in which you find yourself saying "Estoy" Example: I am in my mother's house; "Estoy" en casa de mi madre.
and when you refer to your person to describe I say "Soy" because these describe to you. Example : I'm really bad at math; "Soy" mala en matematicas.
It should be mentioned that you should keep in mind that in Spanish there are no synonyms for almost every word .
So the Confucianism and the I am because you use the same word " I "
