I study french from years ago and I stop for month I forget it all
maybe if you study french good in 1 year you will be mastered French

Practice like crazy !!!!
Yo uhave to study the basic : some grammar, some vocabulary etc
And after it is the same for every language : PRACTICE : talk much as you can with french people for be use to french language.
I recommand to my student to do a diary in French everyday, it helps for remenber some vocabulary !!
