¡Hola! Hello, Premium Language Instruction. Advanced Certified Teacher and Translator with over 20 years experience. 16 years living in Latin America. 10 years online. Domino el español. Let's get started! My interests have always been in language, travel and outdoor sports, but I like learning new completely random things that have nothing to do with my main interests. I like science and wildlife. I was born and raised in New Jersey, in the northeast of the United States of America. I'm probably a bit more excited about language than even my students are. I focus on what will work best for my student. Should I speak slowly, quickly, make the subject matter easy or challenging. Importantly, what does the student want from the class. That's what I try to do. I never thought I would become a teacher. Since I was 18 years old I started tutoring and then one after another opportunity came up in which I found myself teaching. I realized that I loved teaching. Since I didn't go through the normal route to get a teaching certificate in college, when I finally did start teaching I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the best teacher I could be and to really reach my students. That is how I work.My lessons & teaching style
My classes are private, so I try to customize the class for each student and to identify their needs. It actually takes a few classes to do this, which is difficult because the student usually expects you to figure it out quickly. I try to help each person to reach their language goals of fluency and to give them the skills to be a better language learner so that they aren't dependent upon me or any other teacher or material. My main goal is for the student to speak 80% of the time in class.My teaching material

ASL Sign Language InterpreterI worked as an interpreter for a total of about 8 years. I took one year off to go to Colombia and then came back to New Jersey, USA to interpret again.

TeacherI've actually moved around from time to time and have taught in about 5 countries but there was no option to choose 5 countries so I just chose the one in which I lived the longest.

English TeacherI taught English to businessmen and women at their place of work in groups of 4 to 10 students.

I never though than one day I would be able to get a phone interview even less an interview, face to face with five different people, for three hours, in English of course. It wasn’t perfect but I did it. You have contributed to that. You’re a really good teacher!

The (relatively) complex conversations we are able to have with my limited ASL knowledge is a testament to Mark's ability to sign in a way that facilitates comprehension while teaching new vocab and concepts.

A great lesson! Although I am fairly new to ASL, Mark is able to use only sign language in a way that is comprehensible and teaches me new vocabulary in context every time. He is very patient and good at clarifying when I start to look confused!
