Message to Zanzibar 1

This is a message I want to send to some children in Zanzibar. I was their English teacher last summer. I copied the Swahili followed by the English version of what I want to say:

Ni kuitwa, “The University of Washington”.

Tutaonana tena inshallah,

Mwalimu Katie

Dear children of Madrasa Banina wal Banati,

I miss you very much and think of you often. I want to visit Uzi and see you again soon. I am practicing Swahili and I hope you are still practicing English and playing “Duck-Duck-Goose”. I have sent you books for you to practice speaking English. The picture on this card is a school in my home state. It is called “The University of Washington”. I hope you are all studying hard in primary school so you will be successful in any job you want in your future.

I will see you again, God willing,

Teacher Katie
