This is a message I want to write to some teachers in Zanzibar. I was their English teacher last summer. I have copied the Swahili version followed by the English version:
Ndugu walimu za Madrasa Banina wal Banati,
Natumaini nyinyi wote ni vizuri na nyinyi wote ni kufanya mazoezi kiingereza mengi. Nafanya mazoezi kiswahili kidogo, lakini nataka kufanya mazoezi zaidi kwa haraka. Kadi hii ina picha ya nyumbani mji wangu, Seattle. Kujenga mrefu katika upande wa kushoto wa picha hii ni, “The Space Needle” na ina mgahawa kwa juu. Nimetuma vitabu kwa nyinyi na watoto kufanya mazoezi kusema kiingereza. Tafadhali mnatoa kumkumbatia kwa watoto yenu Aisha, Nasma, Asha, na Sabiha kwa ajili yangu. Nakosa yao!

Dear teachers of Madrasa Banina wal Banati,
I hope you are doing well and practicing English a lot. I am practicing my Swahili a little but I hope to practice more soon. This card has a picture of my home city, Seattle. The tall building on the left is called “The Space Needle” and has a restaurant at the top. I have sent books in this box to help you and the children practice speaking English. Please give hugs to your children Aisha, Nasma, Asha, and Sabiha for me! I miss them!
