I found my mistakes on my correction. Might've been half asleep then... ごめん！
Kenio san's correction about が&は are completely right, while mine isn't.

"don't like" should be translated 好きじゃない. The both 好きじゃない & 憎んでいる（hate) are not bad for the sentence since there would be people who are 好きじゃない or 憎んでいる politicians/politics. However, 憎んでいる might be a bit too strong expression since it is a word that make people imagine the anger and grudge.
While I was in England, I often heard people saying "hate" just like instead of "dislike/don't like very much". However we Japanese don't say ”hate" in Japanese instead of "dislike/don't like very much". It is completely different feeling for us, I suppose. So what I want to say is that 憎んでいる might not be a word you really want to express since I don't know Mexican's emotion for real, I'm afraid.

Here's some words I often hear as how people feel about the politics/politicians in Japan. Most Japanese don't like the present politicians either.  I add a word in ()  for each so that you can check them in the dictionary, if you want.

政治/政治家 に 満足していない are not satisfied with the politics/politicians. (満足する, まんぞくする）
政治/政治家 を 信用していない don't trust the politics/politicians.(信用する、しんようする）
政治/政治家 を 嫌っている dislike the politics/politicians (嫌う、きらう）

大統領選挙。←社長=el presidente de una compaña

7月1日は私の国の大統領選挙だ。

メキシコの多くの人々は政治を憎んでいる。

私は投票に行くことがもう良いアイデアなのかどうか分からない。

あまり悪い候補者を選択するのは賢いアイデアではなさそうだ。

Many people hate the politics of Mexico. ( That's what the translator says and i kept it that way), but what i really tried to say is...

-Many people in Mexico don't like politics/politicians. (I used the word hate instead of don't like since the translation program is not so good with do-words hehe)

私は投票に行くことはもう良いアイデアであればわからない。

-I don't know if going to vote is a good idea anymore.

あまり悪い候補者を選択するには、賢いアイデアだ。

-Select a bad candidate doesn't look like a smart idea.

<noun> + の + <noun> は、4種類(しゅるい）あります。

(Its actually 5types but I'll explain 4types here)

1)所属（しょぞく）(belong/own) わたしの犬、appleの社員（しゃいん）

2)性質（せいしつ）(property/ character) スペイン語の本（すぺいんごのほん）

3)同格（どうかく）(appositon)社長の田中（たなか）さん、友達のマーク

4) （I don't know how to call though. See the relationship betweeen 2 nouns which is shown by that former noun modifies the later one. This sometimes appear with "particles" . )

日本語 の 勉強 →　日本語(にほんご） を 勉強（べんきょう）する　

子供 の 成長　→　子供（こども） が 成長（せいちょう）する

マリオさん と の 旅行 →　マリオさん と 旅行(りょこう）する

So You might be able to use 2) for 大統領の選挙 but it sounds unfamiliar. It might because I guess we tend to imgine 1) if the former noun is a person. I'm not sure about it though:-(
