Can anyone tells me more about those lines?

Namaste friends,

I've found those lines and I think it's in relation to a praise or invocation to Hindus Gods and Goddesses :

"Om bhoor-bhuvah-avah
Tat sautur varenyam
Bhargo devasya dheemahi
Dhiyo yo nah prachodayaat"

Maybe I made mistakes in writing those lines.

Can anyone could translate me those lines and tells me if it's about praise or invocation?

Dhanyawaad in advance for your answers!

This is invocation known as "GAYATRI MANTRA"

Aum Bhur Bhuvah Swah, Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya DhimahiDhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

A basic translation can be given as...

Oh God, the Protector, the basis of all life, Who is self-existent, Who is free from all pains and Whose contact frees the soul from all troubles, Who pervades the Universe and sustains all, the Creator and Energizer of the whole Universe, the Giver of happiness, Who is worthy of acceptance, the most excellent, Who is Pure and the Purifier of all, let us embrace that very God, so that He may direct our mental faculties in the right direction.

    Hope this will help you......
