Hi Lisa,
I am going to translate your English to Afrikaans. You are also welcome to react in German whilst learning Afrikaans. You will find that Afrikaans is, together with German and Dutch, a Germanic language. This means that you should be able to pick up Afrikaans quite easily. In structure Afrikaans is grammatically very easy, much more so than German and Dutch. You will also notice that the vocabulary is very similair. Now for the translation:

Ek leer Afrikaans omdat ek in die buiteland wil gaan studeer en in Suid-Afrika wil gaan werk. My moedertaal is Duits, en ek het in Duitsland grootgeword. Ek geniet dit om ander tale aan te leer.
