He wanted to eat soup
به مغازه خواستم بروم من خواستم به مغازه بروم/خواستم به مغازه بِرم
I wanted to go to the shop
خواستيم كتابى را بخوانيم
We wanted to read a book
]خواستند برايم نامه اى را بفرستند
They wanted to send me a letter

And how do you say “want to” in the present tense?

I want to go to cinema. می خواهم به سینما بروم/می خوام بِرم سینما

I want to eat lunch.   می خواهم ناهار بخورم/می خوام ناهار بخورم
