First notebook entry: Introducing myself

I am simply an ordinary citizen (of the United States) who is fascinated about linguistics, including, but not limited to the interpretation and/or the misunderstandings associated with word meanings. Example: I was 'goggling' to find the difference between the words; "abnormal" and "uncommon". this search brought me to this site. Although i am a 'plebeian', i have been researching the dictionary and using a thesaurus frequently (especially in the last few years) while attempting to write a book. My skills in writing leave something to be desired and my computer skills are even less impressive. Never-the-less, this seems like an interesting site, and I maybe of some assistance to someone.
