Participation in a conference

Dr. N is certainly a talented and motivated psychiatrist and investigator. She works hard in the very important field of psychosocial treatment and rehabilitation. She not only studies the relevant literature and data obtained through research throughout the world, but also consolidates this knowledge and experience, adapts parts of it to the conditions of psychiatric services in B, and initiates the introduction of this knowledge into routine practice. The Presidium of Association [1] nominated Dr. N for membership in Congress, [2] because of her participation in, and acquaintance with, new research, and because the latest achievements in that research could be useful not only for her, but also for other Belorussian psychiatrists.  Dr. N could share new information with collegues and use it both in research and in clinical practice.

The main field of interest of Dr. N is the psychosocial treatment of serious mental disorders -- in particular schizophrenia.  Psychiatric services in Belarus include pharmacotherapy and structured client-oriented psychosocial interventions, not applied. [3] Dr. N is the first psychiatrist in our country who has developed and organized psychoeducational programs [4] for thepatients with schizophrenia and for their families. About 300 patients and their relatives have taken part in these programs.  Dr. N conducted the first such program in B -- a controlled study of the effectiveness of a short-term psychoeducational program for patients with schizophrenia.  The results of this research were presented not only in Belarus, but also in an oral presentation at a joint international conference.

 
Dr. N was the head of a pilot project for a psychosocial rehabilitation program for people with mental disorders, and she also took part in the development of the first rehabilitation program based on the case-management principles. This project was approvedby K….

[1] I do not understand "The Presidium of Association". You should specify which association.  For example:  the Presidium of the Belorussian Psychiatric Association.

[2] I didn’t understand "attendance," and assume you meant memebership.

[3] I do not understand "not applied."  Do you mean, "but not applied psychology"?

[4] I pluralized "psychoeducational programs" because you later speak of "the first in B." I interpreted that to mean the first such program, which means there are more than on program.
