I like watching TV & and movies, running, reading, or just sitting around & and doing nothing.

No "&" in formal essays. Actually, even in informal essays we rarely use this symbol "&". When starting to learn English, or working on improving your English (or even another language) it's best to spell out every word. This will improve spelling and reading comphrehension.
