First notebook entry: Introducing myself

I am an old man. My wife and I live apart from our children. We don't have any speaking practice.  Our native languages are Russian and Ukrainian. We attended language school, but we have problems [or: have a problem] with understanding the spoken language. I enjoy reading books and watching movies.

You can say, "separate" from our children," but it is more common to say "apart."
