Language challenge
It helped me understanding that if I take a language challenge, I would be forced to write notebook entries to get the "free access" to a "language of my choice", which is not Chinese, nor Korean...
Next time, please tell in the initial conditions that you force participants to write notebook entries.
Luckily, it didn't mention the notebook entry would have to be a positive one :)
Thank you!

Thank you Eftihia :)
Dear Sam,
Since you are using my passeport name instead of my profile name, it is obvious to me that you are from italki or openlanguages team.
Well, since you want to debate, the only reason I wrote that is because you force us to write something about the challenge "to keep track of the progress", which I have ("I took the italki Challenge and I learned much less than usually since everyone was too busy this month"). The thing is, you call your marketting operation "language challenge" when it is an "advertizing campain that will make us money instead of spending it".
We have a say in French : "we can't have the butter and the money for the butter".
In other terms, I find it wrong to have people pay for classes on one hand, and advertize you (twice) on the other hand.
I followed your rules. I gave and took a lot of classes from italki in January, as you can probably see.
That being said, your operation has been a great success. You should learn to take a criticism. "Haters gonna hate", internet rule number 1. :)
Now it would be nice to have this access to Russian for me to give to my student whose mother just died so that he can keep practicing while he can't sleep at night.
Cheers.
Masha (not Maria, thank you).

" On the initial signup page, it clearly states "Choose from English, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic or Russian lessons"

On the initial page that you used to sign up for this challenge it says the following under the heading of "How it works".
"Write 2 updates of your progress
During the Challenge, we want you to keep track of your progress. In order to receive the prize, you must write a quick italki notebook about the Challenge at the start and the end of the Challenge."
If you complete all the requirements, then you win!"

That page also lists the available languages as well.
