How to introduce myself.

How to greet people based on the time of day.
: Bem dia.
: Boa tarde.
: Boa noite.

How to ask how a person is doing.
: Como esta?

How to respond if someone asks me how I am doing.
: Muito bem, obrigado.
: Estou bem, obrigado.

How to say Please abd Thank You.
: Obrigado (men say it this way)
: Obrigada (women say it this way)
I am still a little bit confused on the whole division of language based on gender, but I will learn eventually.

I have also been practicing the correct pronunciation of the vowels in Portuguese versus English. Many thanks to Washington Vieira.
