I have always been interested in how Russian sounds to those who do not know it. Beautiful or, conversely, sharp and rough?

One question

I always been interested in how the sounds Russian seem to those who do not know the language.  Beautiful or, conversely, a sharp and rough?

I think Russian is somewhere between the extremes between, say, a melodic language like Italian, and a harsher language like German.  I've certainly never noticed anything displeasing about the sounds of Russian.
