Things to remember people

My check wasn't as big as I expected. So, yesterday, I was depressed. But today is different. Today, I'm strong and happy. Last night, my mother, sister, and I were sharing stories. We were talking about famous sayings to remember people by. When I was a child, I remember my mom sang silly songs. Especially to wake us up.My father's favorite saying is, "The quickest way to a single point is a straight line". He doesn't believe in wasting time. My grandfather would say things to me like, "Don't let anyone kiss you on the lips except your parents and your husband" and, "Always make sure your eyebrows are straight". Each time we'd see him, he would put spit on his finger and smooth them out. Everyone does unique things and it's a fun way to remember them.

期待したほど給料は高くなかったの。だからきのう、私は落ち込んだわ。でもきょうは違うの。今日は強くて幸せよ。 昨晩、母と妹、そして私は一緒に話をしたわ。私たちは人々が覚えている有名な言い伝えについて話し合ったの。私が子どもの頃（ころ）、母が口ずさんでいたたわいもない唄を覚えているの。特に、私を起こすためのね。父の座右（ざゆう）の銘（めい）は、「一点、最速の方法は、直線的である。」彼は時間の無駄を信じないの。祖父は私に「両親と夫以外の誰にも、お前の唇にキスさせてはいけないよ。」と言っていた。そして「いつも確実に、お前の眉をまっすぐにしておきなさい。」と。私たちが祖父に会う度に、つばを指に吐いて、私たちの眉をなめらかにしていたの。みんなユニークなことをするから、それが彼らを思い出すための楽しい方法ね。

Last night, my mother, sister, and I were sharing stories. We were talking about famous sayings to remember people by.

口にする = say some phrase just once ( or a few times ), refer to some topic

though I don't know the nuance of to "talk about"

子供だったときに（子供の頃）、母はがたわいない歌を歌ったことと思い出す。とくに私たちを起きさせた起こすために。

父はの気に入りのかくげんは、「一点に一番手っ取り早い方法は直線になる」だ。彼は時間を無駄に信じていない。 無駄に時間を過ごすことに価値を認めていない。
