其实是有文字的，但是已经不用了，先在就被大家遗忘了。是很古老的语言，和江浙一带的语言统称为吴语。

One of my favorite things is to learn the other chinese languages (shanghainese, Minnan, Hakka, and some of the guan dialects) including the writing and then look like a smart Alec in front of the chinese, who never actually learned to write their Fangyan, haha. But actually FINDING the correct characters online, or God forbid a dictionary, is an absolute and total pain. More than worth the effort though, especially for Min, it's only got about a 20% or so resemblance to Common-tongue in its written form. Good luck finding that shanghainese dictionary, I'm still looking for one. :P

上海话目前还没有成熟的书写系统，虽然学者正在研究规范的上海话字，但我们仍然离这个目标很远。想学上海话，可以直接从当地人学。
