Humans and falling asteroidslling asteroids
A meteor with a diameter of 50 meters has flown over Russian sky today. And space agencies have not alerted people about this event. A lot of people have been injured by blast wave from meteor (not very seriously). But what would happen if there was 500 meters diameter asteroid? Or 1 kilometer diameter asteroid? Is humankind's technologies mature enough to prevent such a planetary catastrophe? So what do you think?

This is nothing particularly alarming. Millions of metoers enter the Earth's atmosphere every day, this one just happened to be a bit bigger than most, but still small nonetheless. If a civilisation-ending meteoroid or comet appeared on the scene, we'd know about it.

I think Russia just "dodged a bullet," but cosmic bullets have have hit the Earth in the past, and will probably hit us again.
I am sorry that people were injured, but glad to hear that the injuries were not very serious.
