Before long, there ‘s some bloodshed. Hyena kills the zebra and orang-utan. And then the tiger kills the hyena. Pi plans to kill RP, but the tiger is stronger than him and Pi doesn’t figure out a plan good enough to make sure that he would kill RP successfully. So Pi plans to live with RP together and tries to tame him until he’s more or less master of the lifeboat. Pi catches fish for RP so that RP would not eat him because of hungry. But Pi is a vegetarian, it is not easy for him to kill a fish. He even cries when he smashes the fish’s head for the first time. Although there is food for Pi in the lifeboat’s locker it is not enough for ever. When the food runs out Pi eats fish and turtle, too. And he prefers turtle. He likes drinking turtle’s blood.
At the end of Part 2, however, some strange things happen. Pi meets another castaway on this gigantic ocean who tries to eat him. Instead, RP eats the castaway. And then Pi lands on an island made entirely of algae. Pi and RP are malnourished at this point and it's not far-fetched to think Pi has gone mad. The chapter ends with Pi and RP landing in Mexico. RP bounds off into the jungle without so much as a goodbye.
In the third part, two officials from the Japanese Ministry of Transport speak to Pi to ascertain why the ship sank. While they don't get any answers about the ship's sudden shipwreck, they do get Pi's story. But they don’t believe it, they point out some places that do not seem reasonable. Then Pi tells them another story of human brutality, in which Pi was adrift on a lifeboat with his mother, a sailor with a broken leg, and the ship's cook, who killed the sailor and Pi's mother and cut them up to use as bait and food. Pi asks the officials which story they prefer. They choose the first story with animals. The book ends here and keep reader wondering which one is real.
