Today, I would like to say a news happened in Henan Province.
Henan is the most populous province in China. Some people said that Henan has a bad reputation, because more than 30% AIDS patients are living there, and people who from Henan always be considered as liar.
Nevertheless, it is located in the Central Plains area of China, and has a long history. They attached great importance to the graves of the family who has died. The graves are round, look like small hills. You could imagine that how many "hills" in Henan, which has the largest population in China.
So, local government felt embarrassed, especially when some central leaders inspected Henan, local officer had no word to answer. Could they replied " we have so many graves because we have so many people"?
Then, Henan launched a grave leveled policy. After that, 95% of the graves were leveled. However, many local people felt particularly sad, they were afraid that their fathers (father's father...) who slept in the ground may not happy. Some people were against such policy, even against the local government. In order to avoid this sort of things become a conflict, the government decided to stop leveling graves.
As a result, the next day, after the issue of this file was just launched, many many "hills" appeared again. After the local people hearing the news, they got up at the middle of the night, called on the family to mound up the graves.
You see, how important the tombs in people's hearts. In Chinese culture, burn paper to dead people is also a significant thing. There is a saying that a person who dead would went to Sheol. Burning paper money regularly to the dead person could supported his/ her afterlife.
