I need some help translating the following passage into Russian for a class project on Tuesday. Any help is greatly appreciated.
At the end of World War II, the victorious Red Army took control of the city and the German population fled for East and West Germany. Much of the city had been destroyed from Allied bombings. Because of its strategic location during the Cold War, the Soviet Baltic fleet was headquartered at Kaliningrad in the 1950s. Also for this reason, the city was closed to foreigners until 1991. Sometimes the city is referred to as “Kyonig” short for Kyonigsberg for advertising and tourism purposes. It’s possible the city will revert to its former name in the near future.
