Good Plan

I have already written more than 70 notebook entries.

When I started to be active and write short contributions, they weren’t always corrected. I just hoped that someone would click on my entry and spend a few minutes on checking it.

Of course, I want to get some feedback - to know where I have made mistakes.

The more I write, the more often my entries are corrected. I like when my entry is corrected by more than one native speakers – it’s interesting to compare what each of them thinks, corrects, likes or dislikes. Sometimes I’m surprised how the corrections differ.

I always wish when I am clicking on the “Submit” button no one found any mistakes in my entry. Unfortunately, it has never happened.

I have decided that I will print my entries out together with the corrections. I will focus on the mistakes I made and write down the corrected sentence, phrase or word. This should help not repeat the same mistakes in the future.

Sometimes I’m surprised how the corrections differ. [if for greater emphasis... "I'm surprised how the corrections can differ so greatly."]

This is because it shows your sincerity and conviction in learning a language.  No one wants to correct someone's homework or some work assignment, especially when disguised to look like something else.  I don't correct them unless they are interesting enough, stating explicity their intented purpose or a direct plea.

There will always be "mistakes" in their essays, including native speakers.  Everyone thinks differently and even for the same person, will correct/write differently at different times because of their mood.  Sometimes, there is a better way to express. This is why even authors need editors to polish their work.

    Hello Jitka:

I found no errors in your writing here. Your grasp of written communication is  very good at this time.

I would like to acknowledge with some regret, what you wrote about short notebook entries being ignored. That is regrettable.    One of the obstacles  I find as someone who likes to be of some help, is that some essays are huge, lengthy affairs, and although I appreciate the student's intention to develop expertise in writing,  as a composition which requires massive  corrections, these lengthy essays devour massive amounts of time for those who wish to help.

Also,  some entries, whether questions or Notebook essays, are sometimes things which anyone can find  answers to on the Internet.

What I think would be encouraging for all the teachers and tutors, would be for a student to do  two things:

    (a)   Publish  a paragraph or two, as a  Notebook Entry, so that the correction will take no more than about 5 to 10 minutes at most.

    (b)   After a paragraph has been published,  whereby the student has practiced a specific vocabulary,  I think the student should practice repeating  the same vocabulary  over and over, in other sentences, with some new words  added in. This will produce a steady progress.

I think you write very well, and if I see other entries from you, I will seriously try to be of some help to you.  (Nice to meet you by the way!)  ---Warm Regards, Bruce
