Welcome, Cristina. I hope you enjoy your Arabic studies.

Is your name pronounced 'Gristina' in Italian? Supposing so, گ, while part of the standard Farsi Abjad, is almost unheard of in Arabic. Hard /g/ is represented in a variety of ways in written Arabic, depending on the dialect of the writer:

-In the East, it is common to represent it with غ.

-In Egypt, it is common to represent it with ج.

-In Morocco, ݣ‎ (with three tittles instead of the line) is most common.

-In Tunisia and Algeria, ڨ (or ق if the former is unavailable) is most common.
