A foreign friend who uses pinyin

Whenever I chat with a foreign friend, I find that he doesn't use characters, but pinyin, like "ni hao," "jin tian tian qi bu cuo." I asked him why he uses pinyin, and not characters. He told me that they're hard to learn. I think he should learn the Chinese characters because all Chinese people use characters, not pinyin when we chat with other people. They're hard to learn, but he shouldn't be afraid of them. I hope I can help him to overcome this difficulty. I believe he can do it!

当我和一个外国朋友聊天的时候,我发现他使用的是拼音,不是汉字,像"ni hao","jin tian tian qi bu cuo".我问他为什么用拼音而不用汉字,他告诉我汉字太难学了.我认为他应该学习中国汉字.因为全部中国人都使用汉字.当我们与其他人聊天的时候,我们不使用拼音.虽然它很难学,但是不要害怕它.我希望我可以帮助他克服这个困难,我相信他一定能做到!
