    The angle of Cantonese

I like hiking just for fun. Do you?
    我喜欢徒步旅行远足是为了玩。你呢?
I think the word "远足" fits hiking.

In fact there is no such a direct expression to say 'just for fun' in Chinese. My translation cannot express your meaning.

Here is a photo I took a few years ago.
    这是我花了几年前的照片。
The sentence 「这是我花几年拍的照片」means, 'I have used few years to take this photo'

花 is originally a noun means flower, but in above sentence it acts as a verb means 'to spend'

几年前 refers to "few years ago", 前 is originally a preposition but in the pharse 几年前, it uses ast "ago"

It is along a river in eastern Washington State, USA.
    它是在美国华盛顿州东部,沿着一条河流。
See what you want to say. "It" is here uses as pronoun. So what are you refering?

If you are saying, 'The photo was taken along the river'

    (这些照片/它)是我在美国华盛顿东部的一条河边拍的

or the hiking site is along the river?

    (这个郊游地点/它)位于美国华盛顿东部的一条河边

"它" is the pronoun 'it', for places and stuffs. In English 'it' also refers to animals, in such a case, Traditional Chinese will use "牠" to make the different. But it is the same "它" in simplied Chinese. choose either the noun or the pronoun in the bracket

It was the end of May.
    这是那时是5月结束

The weather was warm and pleasant.
    天气温暖宜人。
    Tiānqì wēnnuǎn yírén.

I hiked for 25 minutes from the car down to the river.
    我徒步25分钟从车下到河边。

    A) 我花了25分钟由车子徒步走到河边, or

    B) 由车子徒步走到河边, 我花了25分钟

The word 从 is much formal than that of 由.

Sentence B is emphasizing "I have spened 25 minutes", personally I think.

'Down' is not presented in above sentence. But the word 'down' will be included if you are speaking Cantonese.

Then I played fetch with my friend's dog.
    然后,我打了取与我的朋友的狗。

    A) 然后, 我跟我朋友的狗玩飞盘

    B) 然后, 我跟我朋友的狗玩
I can't think of any terms that have the direct meaning of 'play fetch'. I used '玩飞盘' means 'playing Frisbee' in sentence A. Or simply the meaning "I just play with my dog" for sentence B

    It was a fun day.
    这是一个有趣愉快的一天。

"有趣" means interesting. "愉快" has the meaning of happniess. It would be better to use 愉快.

"个" means "a", but "" already include the meaning of "a day", so you don't need "一个" in this case.

    谷歌帮助了我翻译

If you mean google helped me, then use "帮助" = "help"

If you mean the translation was given by Google, then you will use "provided" = "提供"

Or you may say in this way

    參考了谷歌翻译」 = "I have took Google's translation as a reference"

My English is not so good, but I hope it helps you :)
