Literature

Once, my teather who taught English literature told us that it is impossible for one to learn literature, which is some kind like the talent by birth.
Do you agree?

May I correct it? One day, my teacher who taught English Literature told us that it is impossible for someone to learn literature, it can be learned by someone who has a talent.

My comment: I don't agree about that, literature can be learned by all people in the world, it is not related with talent or gift from God. If you wanna be a singer, then you gotta have beautiful voice and it's from God a.k.a talent, painter, etc. If you wanna learn English literature or other foreign literatures, you must be fluent in that language, because you should know the story and after that you should find the plot, character, point of view, messages, etc.

I believe that literary sensitivity is an acquirable skill; it is not an inherent trait. At the end of the day, curiosity/interest, determination and sheer practice will prevail (it will open the doors- encourage you to tap into your literary sensitivity and hone it). But make no mistake, it will also include some laborious hours. The road towards magic will be paved with challenges. Good luck! Oh, and never put stock into blanket statements made by teachers regarding 'talent' or anything like that!
