Segundo alguns autores, a palavra “barroco” deriva da palavra “verruca” do latim, que significa elevação de terreno em superfície lisa. --- According to authors, the word "baroque" derives the latin word "verruca", which means raise the smooth surface. Toda pedra preciosa que não tinha forma arredondada era chamada de barrueca. --- All precious stone that not have rounded form was called the barrueca. Logo após, toda e qualquer coisa que possuía forma bizarra, que fugia do normal, era chamada de baroque. --- Soon after, all and anything that possessed bizarre form, that fleeing the normal, was called baroque. O poeta italiano Giosuè Carducci foi quem, em 1860, adjetivou o estilo da época dos Seiscentos, referindo-se às manifestações artísticas ocorridas a partir do ano de 1600, como sendo barroco. --- The Italian poet Giosuè Carducci who was, in 1860, the style adjetivou of the six hundreds period, referring to artistic demonstrations occurred from the year of 1600, as baroque. O Barroco começa começou (past tense) a partir do ano de 1600 e todas as manifestações entre essa data e 1700 estão inseridas em um contexto assimétrico e rebuscado das obras barrocas.

--- Baroque begins from the year 1600 and all demonstrations between that date and 1700 is inserted in a asymmetrical context and affected the Baroque works.

Segundo alguns autores, a palavra “barroco” deriva da palavra “verruca” do latim, que significa elevação de terreno em superfície lisa.

Toda pedra preciosa que não tinha forma arredondada era chamada de barrueca.
