New year's day in Japanese way

Happy New Year 2014!

I live in Canada, but I spend new year's holiday in Japanese way.

On new year's eve, I cleaned my rooms (to get good luck from new year), then I had Toshikoshi- soba for super (for good luck), then go to bed.

On new year's day, I get up early to see the first sun rise, then I pray for the health and good luck. We call this belief Shinto. It's Animism. Basic idea is respect nature.

If I was in Japan, I go to the shrines to pray health and good luck for the new year.
