پەملىك رەسسام / The Clever Painter

بۇرۇنقى زاماندا ئۆتكەن بىر پادىشاىنىڭ ئوڭ پۇتى سول پۇتىدىن كالتە بولۇپ، يول يۈرسە دىڭگوسلاپ ماڭىدىكەن؛ سول كۆزى جىرتاق بولۇپ، خۇددى بىر نەرسىنى پەملىۋاتقان ياكى ئۆلچەۋاتقاندەك ھەمىشە قىسىلىپ تۇرىدىكەن.

In times past a certain padishah's right leg was shorter then his left, wherever he went he hobbled about. His left eye was squinty and always squeezed shut as if he was taking aim or measuring something very closely.

بىر كۇنى پادىشاھ ئۆزىنىڭ رەسىمىنى سىزدۇرۇپ ئاسماقچى بوپتۇ ۋە پەرمان چۈشۈرۈپ، ئۆز تەۋەسىدىكى داڭلىق، ئۇستا رەسساملارنى
ئۆز ئوردىسىقا چاقىرتىپتۇ.

One day the padishah decided he wanted to have his portrait drawn and displayed so he sent out a call for master painters who had attained fame to come to his palace.

پادىشاھنىڭ ياساۋۇللىرى كۆپ ئىزدىنىشلەر ئارقىلىق ئۈچ نەپەر داڭلىق رەسسامنى ئوردىغا ئېلىپ كەپتۇ. پادىشاھ رەسساملارغا: <<مېنىڭ رەسىمىم ئارتۇقمۇ ئەمەس، كەممۇ ئەمەس، ئەينەن، چىرايلىق بولسۇن. ئەگەر يالغاننى ئارىلاشتۇرۇپ ھىيلە ئىشلەتسەڭلار، كاللاڭلارنى ئالىمەن. قايسىڭلارنىڭ سىزغىنى ماڭا يارىسا، چوڭ مۇكاپاتقا
مۇيەسسەر بولىسىلەر>> دەپتۇ.
After much searching the padishah's men found three famous painters and brought them to the palace. The padishah said to the artists, "I do not want my portrait to be extravagant, nor should it be modest, let it be accurate and beautiful. If you use lies mixed with tricks then I will take your heads. Whichever of you is able to crack me open, he will be rewarded with a large prize."
