My Arabic homework 12/04/2014
I was asked by my teacher to write a few sentences in MSA for homework using some of the verbs and vocabulary I've learned. If you all have any corrections or tips, please do share and thanks advance!
يذهب محمد إلى عمله في نيو يورك أيضاً
Mohamed goes to his work in New York also.
( A good verbal sentence )
اختي لا تشرب حليب لانه إسيوية
My sister does not drink milk because she is Asian.
( you should add the to milk in arabic = الحليب unless you're going to add another word to " milk " e.g cow's milk etc " .
" becuase she is " you have to use the feminine suffix ها to refer to your sisiter, so the correct form will be لأنها
هل سوف تكتبين رسالة طويلة له
Will you (fem.) write a long letter to him?
( you can use either سوف or س . both are correct )
أريد الذي الكتاب كبير فوقك
I want the big book that is above you.
( adjective - subject agreement here : there's a " the " before the book so you have to add " the " to the noun and the adjective in arabic : الكتاب الكبير
Relative clauses in arabic have the same order as in English. So
I want the big book that is above you = أريد الكتاب الكبير الذي فوقك
سوف اذهب إلى الجزيرة صغيرة بالمركب الصاحب الفندق
I will go to the small island with the boat of the owner of the hotel.
( Again, the small island - you have to add the to the noun and its adjective in arabic : الجزيرة الصغيرة
Also
There's no equivlant to " of " in Arabic, but we order the words as they are in english . All words must be without " the " except the last word ( you should add " the " to it.
So the boat of the owner of the hotel = مركب صاحب الفندق
أقول له إن كل شيء مسل
I tell him that everything is fun.
( it's better to make this sentence nominal by adding " إن "
so the sentence will be like إنني أقول له أن كل شيء مسل
Just to make it sound better :)

هل ستكتبين رسالة طويلة له؟
Will you (fem.) write a long letter to him?
أريد الكتاب الكبير الذي هو فوقك.
I want the big book that is above you.
سوف أذهب إلى الجزيرة الصغيرة بمركب صاحب الفندق.
I will go to the small island with the boat of the owner of the hotel.
أقول له أن كل شيء مسل
I tell him that everything is fun.

أريد الذي الكتاب الكبير فوق ( the best translation for "above you" is فوق, it's better than فوقك, it's like saying "on you"
I want the big book that is above you.
سوف أذهب إلى الجزيرة الصغيرة بمركب صاحب الفندق
I will go to the small island with the boat of the owner of the hotel.
أقول له إن كل شيء مسل
I tell him that everything is fun.
لقد أبليت حسنا

Better to Say (هل سوف تكتبين له رسالة طويلة)

أريد الكتاب كبير الذي فوقك
