i think it's better if you say somthing not very good first. here you can say "天气很冷" first,then lead out a happy thing "你交到了一个可亲的新朋友".

you can use "都是因为” to express you complaint. you blamed youself for getting up too late today.
we don't ofen use "故" . it's an expression used in ancient. of course, sometimes we would use it in our article, but not diary.

"已经" means "already" ，"是时候" means "it'time to..." it would be read more smoothly if you want to add "所以"
