Internet Use in Europe

Provided are two figures that will show comparisons in the prevalence of internet use and online shopping among five countries. The data was recorded in the years, 1995, 2000 and 2004, and outlines online activities in Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain and the UK

It is evident from this information that Britain had a considerable increase during 2000 and 2004. The number of users during this time jumped from 22 million to 41 million; a much greater acceleration from the 16 million users recorded in 1995. Second in terms of internet use was Germany which experienced a threefold rise from 5 million to 15 million between 1995 and 2004. A similar increase took place in France as well. Meanwhile, the remaining nations of Switzerland and Spain had smaller increases.

It is also interesting to note that internet shopping was most common in the UK whose share was twice that of Germany’s and three times more that Switzerland’s. Furthermore, Spain, with the lowest numbers of internet users from the five countries during 2000 and 2004, rated second in online shopping activities during the same time.

This is a difficult form of writing, and I think you have done very well with your original text. My modification is only an attempt to improve the flow of information; it may actually be inaccurate from your original points of importance. I was also unsure about the “past three years” that you mention twice in your text, and have taken this to mean the period between 2000 and 2004. I apologise if this is an error of judgement.

Well done, keep writing.
