Present continuous and "be going to"
Hello everyone. This is my first note.
I'm italian and I'm improving my english.
I would ask you what's exactly the difference between "be going to" and the present continuous. Sometimes I'm a bit confused.

hmm can you give examples? I can only think of
"I am cooking dinner" ( present continuous, now)
I am going to be cooking dinner (future continuous)

Hi Flavia. As far as I could tell:
"I'm going to play tennis tomorrow." is the Future 1 Simple tense (going to)
and "I'm playing tennis tomorrow." is still present continuous even though you're saying that you'll do it in the future. In fact I read that this is a good way of cheating your way to expressing the future without knowing the future tense!
However, as far as I can tell, they basically convey the same thing. Although the second one could imply more certainty in my opinion.
