我的老师告诉我： or 老师对说 祝贺你！ 真为你高兴！ 有一个美好的家！ 我怎么可以响应回答呢？ 我可不可以这样说: 感谢你！我很爱我家。 我他们家庭是福还好。
We understand you and this is what an English speaker would say. However, it's a cultural faux pas!!!
Since you are speaking to a teacher, your superior, therefore your language must be more respectful and with great humility. Since you are learning the language, the other person will understand but in their hearts, what an arrogant uneducated ass you are.
It is better to say something like this...
不敢當. 您太过獎了. 托上天有憐, 家庭还幸好.
I dare not accept the honour. I don't deserve your praise. With heaven's sympathy, my family is doing well. Translating it directly will have a different meaning and nuance in English! For example, 您太过獎了 = You are too much! (you are speaking to a teacher and not to a close buddy). I love my family. This is understood in Chinese because filial piety. So saying this may be construed as a euphemism for hating them! Languages are full of such mine fields.
As another example, it is okay in English to say, "I have a beautiful family and my son is a doctor". This would be seen as bragging in Chinese eyes and ill-feelings will be fostered in the hearts. What you would be saying is, 我家还好, 兒子不出色, 还是个小医生. "My family is doing so-so. My undistinguished son is still a small doctor."
These cultural divides perhaps give rise to the term "Ugly American".
