Verbi Riflessivi
Andiamo a sederci. = We're going to sit down
Reflexive verb
Sedersi = to sit down
Reflexive pronouns
mi (myself)
ti (yourself singular informal)
si (himself/herself/yourself/oneself singular formal)
ci (ourselves)
vi (yourselves)
si (themselves)
For the Reflexive verb - Chiamarsi, we are actually changing the suffix -si into the reflexive pronoun mi and put it in front of the verb. Example, Mi chiamo Tony.
For Sedersi, why are we changing the suffix -si into the reflexive pronoun ci directly. We are not putting the ci in front of the verb, like ci sediamo. Why?
Is there any rules on how we handle the reflexive pronoun for different reflexive verbs?
Hi Tony
When we use reflexive verb SEDERSI, we mean the infinitive form (Present) of this verb. The suffix "Ci" is used to conjugate the present indicative of Sedersi.
Infinitive is SEDERSI
Indicative:
io mi siedo
tu ti siedi
egli si siede
noi ci sediamo
voi vi sedete
essi si siedono
