Studying two languages at the same time When I decided to learn English in May, I stopped to watch French movies and to read some French writing. This is because I think I would be confused if I learned two languages at the same time. I sometimes writing e-mails in French to my friend from Switzerland and these last days, I realiced that I couldn't write something without thinking some words in English instead of words in French. For me, It's easier studying one language that studying French and English at the same time. First, I'll try to speak English as much as possible and then, I'll keep studying French. I think it's the better option.

Studying two languages at the same time

When I decided to learn English in May, I stopped to watching French movies and to reading in some French writing. This is because I think thought I would be confused if I learned two languages at the same time.

I sometimes writing write e-mails in French to my friend from Switzerland and recently these last days, I realised that I couldn't write something anything without thinking some of words in English instead of words in French.

For me, it's easier studying one language than studying French and English at the same time. First, I'll try to speak English as much as possible and then, I'll keep studying French. I think it's the better option.

I completely agree with you.

I don't know if it's better or not studying two (or more) languages at the same time. I can only report my personal feeling about what I've lived myself. What I think is that, if someone speaks these languages more or less fluently, he can go on studying and practicing them at the same time. With no inconvenience. Quite the opposite: the diary experience of more than a language can help him to improve the way he uses them and his capacity of going from a language to another (elasticity?). On the other side, in the case we are at the very starting of the learning, the study in a multilinguistic situation can become a real torture and it will seem as if words, rules and structures of the languages we know begin to mix in our brain and produce disastrous results despite ours efforts.
