Have You Ever Been In This Amazing Place? Usually foreigners associate Russian cold with Siberia but Siberia is a warm place compared with northeastern region. When my parents were just married they moved to the northeastern region to earn some money. It was a real opportunity to get large earnings at that time. My parents were young and adventurous and first winter they lived in a trailer. Only half year later they got a real apartment. My dad often shares stories about time they had there. He described northern lights. It is amazing sight when sky is painted in all colors – red, green, purple, yellow. Also he told about polar night when dark night lasts several months. But in polar day sun never goes down during many weeks. Sometimes in the wintertime it was -75 degrees Fahrenheit but on the other hand mom’s and dad’s annual holidays usually lasted two months. Parents always told that there was always cold weather but warm friendship between all people lived in this place. And if you’ll spend your winter here, you can feel the contrast between russian cold air and russian warm hearts.

Beautiful piece of writing, Natalia! This piece reminded me of my time living in Yellowknife (Canada). Most corrections have to do with the use of the definite article "the". This is a common issue with Russians learning English or French.
