My first text on Italki
Good morning, this is my first text on Italki and I hope assume not the last! ["<em>assume" is used when you try to make sense of what someone else has said</em>]
First of all I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Miguel and I'm Spanish. This makes me a (so I native Spanish speaker. I am 42 years old, I want to learn more English to be able to write a lot of texts in different ways like e-mails, essays, reports, etc.. As I haven't written for ages, I need to refresh myself. [<em>You could say - get back into studying English. You can talk aboit a "refresher" course. Not sure if using "refresh" as a verb sounds good but the meaning is clear enough</em>]
I am new to Italki and step-by-step I hope to improve my English in all aspects: listening, writing and speaking. I am very interested in languages and I am very glad that I have discovered this website. I think it will be very useful for me.
To say a little about my studies, I have two degrees one in law and the other [bachelor's degree] in social law. I have also taken two postgraduate courses in international relations. So I am very interested in improving my English and my Chinese (mandarin), I started a few months ago with Chinese and it is very interesting but I don't have enough knowledge to write in Chinese......still!!
On the other hand I can correct your Spanish texts of course!!!
To sum up I appreciate very much your corrections and I want to improve by making use of this interesting website.
Regards,
Miguel [We have a few things in common. My name is Michael. I am 42. I was a lawyer. I am learning Spanish! Good effort and keep up the good work.]

Good! Very good for your first entry! A few notes:
-In English, we go <em>on</em> <em>websites</em>. Italki is not a <em>web</em>, but a <em>website</em>.
-When you are going to do something in the future then you <em>must</em> add in the verb <em>will</em> - Tomorrow I <em>will</em> go to the shop
-<em>All languages are proper nouns</em> and therefore need a <em>capital letter</em>
-Use <em>such as </em>instead of <em>like</em>
-All <em>nationalities are proper nouns</em>, too
-Use a comma <em>before</em> "but"
